The award-winning British designer Samuel Wilkinson has just released this collection of solid oak lounge tables for the Danish manufacturer &tradition. Putting his own contemporary twist on a shape of table that will be familiar to those who love all things ‘British’ and ‘vintage’, the tables feature beveled, tapered legs and were launched during the recent Stockholm Furniture Fair 2012.
‘Hoof’ is available in five different colours: grey, black, natural, white-pigmented oil and light blue as well as two various sizes.

More about the ‘Hoof’ tables:
‘The main inspiration for the Hoof tables starts from the foot detail. I have always loved the painted wooden chairs that have the end of the legs left as natural wood so that the paint doesn’t chip off if kicked or knocked. The leg ends of the table are sharpened at the foot – like a horse’s hoof is trimmed before it is shod. This detail has derived from continuous exploration and development of production techniques.
‘The fine edge of the tables is created from the soft chamfer being on the top and bottom. This also gives the tables a tactile feel and clearly shows that the tables are made from solid wood. The foot detail is created by reversing the usual production process; most furniture details, which have a painted section and a natural part, are assembled, masked off, and then painted. Hoof is painted first, then cut back to produce the unique detail.’

This low voltage fixture results from a complex glass blowing technique, which creates a unique spherical shape with a composed collection of inner “satellites”, one of which is an opaque milk white glass bubble that houses a 20 watt xenon lamp.
The 28d fixture is designed to sit on a horizontal surface (a desk, table, shelf, or even the floor). It consists of a single illuminated 28 piece wired to a flexible grey crochet memory cable. The cable is intended to be coiled into a sculptural pattern to provide a cushioned surface on which the glass sits.

The 28d will be available to purchase in the coming months.

Simple blocks that rise up directly from the floor, like an iceberg with shapes that are both dynamic and impressive, coming together to produce different combinations. This is the concept of Polar, an original and versatile system for creating decors that are always new. The seats and backs, with frame in wood and differentiated density foam filling, can be combined to create six sofa types, all with solid volumes and oblique cuts for a constantly changing and constantly moving space.

Despite the traditional chalet exterior appearance, this is no ordinary chalet in terms of its interior. The interior architecture of this family home in the French Alps is inspired by mountains and valleys in a modern character where organic forms are composed around a strip of wood. The entire program, construction, and interior architecture are all built around the focal point of the chalet – a large room where the family comes together around a warm hearth.
Located in the St. Martin de Belleville in the French Alps, this 530 square meter chalet was completed in December 2011 by designer and interior architect Noé Duchaufour Lawrance. The 530 square meter house runs is a three storey construction where the communal spaces are located on the top floor and are isolated from the private quarters. Additionally, a detached 100 square meter barn area works as a guest house. The main quarters are composed of the main living room on the second floor with a spacious kitchen, yielding a total of 150 square meters, five bedrooms with en suite bathrooms and WC, a Jacuzzi area and a game room. The barn has two bedrooms, two lounge areas and two bathrooms.

MAMBA shelf/ desk by Victor Vasilev
The Mamba project majestically combines form, function and material to give rise to a piece with a sensual feel and look, a piece that seems to materialise from and disappear into the wall, a piece which springs from the designer’s considerations about the material, its intrinsic and extrinsic properties, and the way it is processed. The result of the idea of a continuous strip which traces an organic figure on the wall is a new type of furnishing complement , a unique blend of shelf, desk and table with LED light source.

Old rock fans never die and Oscar Tusquets loves to demonstrate this. This architect, artist —the drawing of the dama molliniana shows it— and writer, has designed nearly everything during his long career —his work has its own encyclopaedia, compiled by Juli Capella and published by Electa— and in particular many chairs, some of them much admired, but possibly none so beautiful as Gaulino. In this piece —says Tusquets— some critic detected his well-known admiration for Salvador Dalí but, when he saw it finished, it seemed to him that the clearest influences came from Antoni Gaudí and Carlo Mollino. This is why it is called Gaulino. He designed it in 1987 and since then it has become a point of reference in Spanish design. “I learned and enjoyed it very much and I consider it one of my best works. Although its appearance is totally artisanal, it was my first really industrial project in wood; that was when I realised what machines could do.”
The table is available in solid ash frame with ash veneered or glass top in two sizes 2.4 and 3 metres x 1.2
The Gaulino chair is in solid ash with leather seat. Ash is offered in natural, stained black, or stained oak.

Furniture as sculpture
The Team by Wellis collection features furnishing systems that establish a conscious relationship with the built space. Designer Kurt Erni was keen to ensure that the product development of the new sideboard system followed the same structural and formal solutions found in architecture. Contemporary building design, which acted as a source of inspiration for the new storage object, embodies not only today’s flexible, open and individualistic lifestyles. At the forefront of his systematic design work were the originality, flamboyance and visibility of eye-catching buildings. Memorable uniqueness. Kurt Erni has created a refined sideboard family comprising unequal-sided triangular and rectangular shapes that, unlike some spectacular architectural sculptures, offer a compelling coherence.

New approach to orderliness
MONOLIT is a family of 17 core elements that combine and recombine to offer virtually infinite scope and un-heard of design possibilities for exacting spatial solutions. The heterogeneous shapes and sizes of the elements lend themselves to integration within virtually any home situation. Passages, corridors and cor-ners can be furnished with ease thanks to Monolit, which enhances their usefulness. Despite the new side-board’s compact dimensions, it is stunningly cavernous inside. The various storage depths offered by the elements provide a better overview of the contents, as well as easier access. The asymmetrically divided doors open to reveal a new approach to orderliness.

New flow patterns in the room
MONOLIT rethinks the room by discreetly emerging from walls as a standing or hanging object; alternatively, its sculptural qualities mean it can be used as a free-standing room divider. The highly expressive clarity of the new sideboard family is emphasised by the incredibly precise workmanship and personalisation options such as refined looking tops in glass or marble. At first glance, these asymmetrical and unusual items of storage furniture come across as rather flamboyant. Arranged, however, as a combination of core and supplementary elements, they provide new ways of apportioning space, which in turn gives rise to new harmonious flow patterns. New spatial settings for enhanced creative freedom.

An elegant mix of materials
The gentle yet powerful embrace of the casually elegant DS-333 sofa is an irresistible invitation to sink back in comfort. This de Sede creation owes its seductive appeal to the company’s inhouse Design Team, which drew its inspiration from the fascinating interplay of various choice qualities of leather and from the union of clean, clear lines with softly flowing shapes. A single piece of supple yet robust full-grain leather in its natural state forms the slim frame that suspends the sofa above the floor. This outer shell conceals a number of surprising functions, including adjustable armrests, while at the same time boasting sophisticated details such as the leather straps joining the side sections which call to mind those used on old-fashioned suitcases and bags. The compact shell offers protection and comfort with opulent soft cushioning in velvety-supple leather or fabric. Slender legs in high-gloss polished aluminium further underline the light and airy architecture of the DS-333.
